Good hands on exercises
Clear, structured instruction, good hands on exercises. It's worrying to see how much you've forgotten in 3 years, so this course is not only required by the RYA, it is also utterly necessary when you're not using this on a daily basis.

What Sailors Say About Us

Practical examples
Preparing or my RYA Yachtmaster Offshore practical exam, I needed the RYA First Aid course. Flying in from Norway, it was great to take the course by First Class Sailing at the CA in London. The instructor Andy was amazing with lots of good, practical examples after a long career in the police department and as an emergency responder after retiring from the police. Highly recommended 👍

Instructor's very broad experience
I attended the RYA First Aid course with my husband. It was valuable in that we not only learned a lot but also set aside the time to discuss what hazards we might face and how we could manage them. The small number of participants meant that the course delivery could be relaxed and that we could hear from others about different situations. The instructor's very broad experience gave us insights into all sorts of scenarios.

Well organised and professionally managed
I have done shore based first aid, diesel engine maintenance and sea survival courses with First Class Sailing and they were all very worthwhile and I would definitely recommend them.
I have also sailed the across the channel with them and that was similarly well organised and professionally managed.

Sea Survival Course
'This is a one day course held in a classroom and a swimming pool. You will learn about and handle safety equipment. You will learn how to use it in an emergency. An important part of the course is a practical session in a swimming pool where you get to experience first hand the problems of entering an uncooperative liferaft and assisting others whilst fully clothed and with a lifejacket on. Courses are held in London and Southampton.'
