Sailing along the Jurassic coastline means sailing to a back drop of rolling hills, prominent headlands and wonderful geological formations. The Jurassic Coast is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is a living museum of Earth's history, showcasing 185 million years of fossil rich layers, cliffs and coastal landscapes.. It's a place where natural beauty and rich history come together.

A Fabulous Sailing Holiday

We had a fabulous trip with First Class sailing in July, our skipper was knowledgeable, an excellent teacher and he planned an itinerary that was varied and interesting. The boat was spacious, very well equipped and had been stocked with plenty of good quality food, we ate very well! The supplied sailing clothing was clean and of very good quality. Booking and communication with first class sailing was quick, efficient and professional.

Starting and finishing in Southampton we will sail west to places like Poole, Lulworth Cove, Weymouth, Portland and possibly across Lyme Bay to Brixham.

We will aim to spend each night at a different harbour town or pretty anchorage.

This is a hands on sailing trip and suits all levels of sailing ability. Our qualified RYA instructor will be on board to offer any teaching or coaching that ma be wanted. For those keen to advance their RYA qualifications there will be opportunities to have a go at skippering legs. That said if you would rather just enjoy the scenery and catch up on some reading that is fine.

Dorset Jurassic Coast Trip -
Complete Breakdown

Rewarding sailing trip. Here’s more on how it works.
Explore the Jurassic Coastline

Explore the Jurassic Coastline

This is more of a cruise and not a course, but you will gain fantastic experience and cover a lot of miles so should be be a good mile building week. This area provides challenging navigation, with its famously powerful tides.

For those with more experience you can practice existing skills and continue to develop new ones. There are also opportunities to skipper parts of the trip as well.

Many crew - male and female - join us as solo travellers, though we do regularly welcome couples, families and small groups of friends.

Expect to sail between 120nm and 200nm.

The itinerary will be weather dependent. If conditions prevent a trip to the west then it might be more favourable to head across the Channel to explore France and the Channel Islands. So you should bring your passport just in case.

See our availability and prices

In the unlikely situation where the conditions don’t allow us to cover lots of miles we would look to ensure you get plenty of sailing in the testing conditions that prevent the passage but in safer more sheltered local waters.

The price includes oilskins, fuel/gas and all food on board. The only 'hidden cost' are mooring fees, These depend on where you end up each night but should be about £50pp for the week.

An excellent learning holiday

Excellent and well organised. A really fun week, where we learnt heaps but also had a fun holiday. Would highly recommend.
